5 x Gold Medals at GWCBF Cardiff

Following on from last years success at the Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival, we were overwhelmed with this years clutch of medals. Five categories entered and five gold medals awarded by a panel of independent judges blind tasted against our competitors. One beer, O-Garden scooping two gold medals. One for speciality cask beer and one for best bottle beer. Our first bottle beer medal.

Also making an appearance at the festival was Oh-ho-ho, our christmas beer flavoured with blueberries and a debut for our new porter, no name yet, @ 6.2% abv which proved popular with the beer tickers and sold out fast. This beer will not be released to the trade until January next year and then only in very smallquantities, first come first served. Also reappearing was our vintage O8, 15 months in cask, this was the same beer that last year was crowned champion beer of Wales. Needless to say it sold quickly and had to be held back occassionally to allow others a chance at tasting it.

Again a big thank you to ALL the members of CARDIFF CAMRA, staff and customers at this years festival, for making us so welcome, at what is now our home festival. We are already looking forward to next years when we move to the CIA in cardiff and are very excited at the opportunities this opens up.

TRUE TASTE OF WALES AWARDS 2007

Our bottled beer O8 recieved a commendation at this years awards and we are travelling the Uk with TRUE TASTE promoting Welsh products.

2x Golds and a Silver at SIBA Wales and West Beer Competition

Only a couple of weeks after GBBF and we have done it again!!

The annual SIBA Wales and West Beer competition was held at the Barrels pub in Hereford and we secure 2 category Gold Medals and a Silver overall. O8 securing another gold in the strong ale category and CO2 picking up its first award with a gold in the Best Bitter category. Then the CO2 goes on to secure a silver in the overall champion of the competition awards. This was an amazing result for us so soon after the GBBf and again an amazing incentive for us.

Bronze Medal at GBBF 2007

Our O1 picks up another award! Announced at the champion beer of Britain awards on Tuesday 7th august at Earls Court London out Otley O1 was awarded Bronze medal in the Golden ales category. On our 2nd anniversary we are delighted that our flagship ale has been rated as one of the top golden ales in the UK. As a small independent Welsh microbrewery we were very proud to be standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the biggest and best names in British Brewing and hold our own. Winning an award such as this gives us such a boost and inspires us to aim even higher in the future.

We had a wonderful time at the GBBF event and our head brewer ended up working the welsh bar for the entire week, it was a great opportunity to meet so many of the ale drinking public and get some grass roots feed back on our ale, thank you to all we chatted with and thank you for your encouragenment to keep doing what we do.

Champion Beer of Wales!

Awarded to our O8

The judges decided to award Otley O8 the prestigious title of Champion Beer of Wales on Friday 24th Nov. With Og bringing up the rear in third place overall as well as category winner. Full list of placings on awards page.

Described as "a beer to enjoy sipping on a cold winters day in front of a pub log fire" we couldnt have put it better ourselves.

Also making an appearance at the Cardiff festival was O-garden, our wheat beer and O-ho-ho our new christmas ale which were both recieved well and sold out.

The vintage O8 was treated with caution at first but once tasted was then consumed with gusto, also selling out. This vintage beer will be laid down again this year ready for next year.

A big thank you to all the members of Cardiff CAMRA, staff and customers at this years festival, for making us so welcome, at what has become to us our home festival. We are already looking forward to next years.

Champion beer of Leeds!!!

O8 does it again!!!

O8 was voted by a taste panel of judges at Leeds Beer Festival to be the overall festival champion. There seems to be a liking for the Welsh brewers in Leeds as Purple Moose also scooped an award.

Bottle Beers

At last we have launched a range of our own bottle beers. Our champion ale O8 makes it in to bottles as does our flagship brew O1. Also joining them in bottles is one of our seasonal beers, O-garden. This wheat beer is well suited to bottles with its complex flavours of orange, corriander and cloves. The range is available in selected outlets and soon to be available online. All beers are available in 500ml bottles and are bottle conditioned. Thay are packaged in our own distictive way and have already been shortlisted foe the Welsh bilingual design awards.
