Our Friends...
Here is a mention of all our friends and links to their websites.
We are very thankful to all of them for their help and support.
The Association of Welsh Independent Brewers was set up in 2007 to promote the beers and brewers of Wales.Since the new millennium started, there has been a real resurgence of brewing in Wales, with a huge number of new breweries opening to complement the existing large and small breweries. This dramatic increase in the number of breweries has been reflected in the rest of the UK, where a huge surge in the demand for cask ales and locally produced beers has seen a large increase in the number of breweries all over the UK. In Wales, the new breweries have also catalysed new interest in beer styles and diversity of flavours. In the last 5 years, Welsh breweries have really begun to make their mark on the UK brewing scene, with a number of Welsh beers winning major national awards from both SIBA (the Society of Independent Brewers) and CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale). The aims of the Association of Welsh Independent Brewers are to further the interest in Welsh Beers and Welsh breweries, and encourage people to seek out and enjoy our beers.
Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)
CAMRA campaigns for real ale, real pubs and consumer rights. They are an independent, voluntary organisation with over 95,000 members and have been described as the most successful consumer group in Europe. CAMRA promotes good-quality real ale and pubs, as well as acting as the consumer's champion in relation to the UK and European beer and drinks industry. They aim to:
- Protect and improve consumer rights
- Promote quality, choice and value for money
- Support the public house as a focus of community life
- Campaign for greater appreciation of traditional beers, ciders and perries as part of our national heritage and culture
- Seek improvements in all licensed premises and throughout the brewing industry

Welsh Perry and Cider Society
Since 2001 the Welsh Perry and Cider Society has reignited the craft cider and perry industry in Wales. Their mission is to encourage a greater appreciation of these natural craft drinks, spearhead a new era of orchard planting and promote Welsh perry and cider as an indigenous alternative to wine.
Brewing, Food and Beverage Industry Suppliers Association (BFBI)
Originally formed in 1907 as the ABTA, representing suppliers to the UK brewing industry. In 2000, the association started to expand and upgrade its benefits and services; reflecting the increasing diversification of it members into the wider beverage and food sectors.
BFBi is the only trade association representing suppliers throughout the entire beverage industry rather than an individual sector.

The Welsh Cider & Perry Company
In the autumn of 2001, Gwynt-y-Ddraig made their first few hundred gallons
of cider on the home farm in Llantwit Fardre. Since then they have increased
production every year and broadened their selection of draught and bottled ciders.
Most of their cider apples come from Welsh orchards and the extra fruit from
Somerset and Hereford. The apples are milled and pressed on their farm and the
apple juice left to ferment and mature in oak casks. The final product is a traditional
farmhouse cider which won them the CAMRA Gold medal in 2004 –
the first Welsh cider producer to achieve a Gold medal.
