New Beer—Thai Bo
Internationally recognised beer writer Melissa Cole visited us last month to brew an exciting new speciality beer with Matthew Otley. The beer a 4.6% abv golden speciality ale was officially launched on Friday 11th June at the GWBCF in Cardiff International Arena. Melissa named the beer at the unveiling as Thai Bo, a respectful nod to its influences that inspired it.
Infused with Lemongrass, lime leaf and galangal it has been described as having the aromas of a Thai green curry in a glass. The flavours make this an ideal summer beer as the clean refreshing flavours cut right through to quench your thirst and tickle your palette, it has been a big hit also with female drinkers as they describe it as being a beer that they like to drink. We think this beer will be making a return soon as a new monthly seasonal, but if you fancy giving it a try, hurry,  we have a limited amount of casks available from this single brew, so call us to secure one of the most striking beers to come out of our brewery this year.

GWBCF 2010
Success! We picked up the big one! Champion beer of Wales 2010, this time for O Garden, 4.8% speciality Krystal Wheat beer infused with Roasted orange, coriander and cloves this golden ale truly stands out amongst other beers. This is the third time we have won the overall champion at the festival, the last two times being in 2006 and 2008 both with Otley O8. O Garden picks up this prestigious award on the back of winning a gold medal in 2008 at the Champion beer of Britain in London for speciality beers, a category it also picked up gold for this year in Cardiff. To celebrate this success with us order a cask now and receive a celebratory 10% off the normal list price until the end of July.

O7 WEISSEN

July sees the launch of another new seasonal beer brewed in the style of a traditional Belgian wheat beer, brewed to help the hot summer days slip by a little easier this beer should quench the most ardent summer thirst and deliver a full citrus aroma. Unusual to find a naturally cloudy wheat beer in cask, but hey who wants to be predictable?
Light golden, naturally cloudy wheat beer, top fermented with Belgian style yeast. Crisp clean but distinctive flavours with citrus hop aromas and balanced bitterness.”

Fact or fiction?
1. Brewery expansion, we have taken a third industrial unit to help us cope with increasing demand. We plan to install new conditioning tanks and a bigger cold store to house our increasing stock of cask beers.

2. Otley Brewing Company appeared on Real Radio’s Pop the Question, where we scored a dismal 3 out of 10. Nathan was quoted as saying “Its better than 2 but not quite as good as 4”

3. The Queen orders a box of beer through our online shop realbeerbox.com for Phillip for his garden party.

N.B. one of the above might be a bit of a fib, but we can’t tell you which one.
